baby's first sweater

and by 'baby', I mean me. Not an actually baby. Not quite ready for that one yet.

So, yesterday I started my first attempt at making a sweater. In my excitement I almost finished the entire back in one evening. This project is intended for one of my sisters, who turns 13 at the beginning of March & I was worried that I wouldn't finish in time. But even if I continue at a fraction of the pace I'm going now, I'm confident I can meet that deadline.

The particular pattern that I'm using is Eve, which is kinda funky, but I think it matches my sister's style. I didn't like the color used in the original & it happened to be that the yarn was discontinued, so I chose to use Caron Simply Soft Shadows in Soft Merino instead. The color variation is turning out to be very nice. I can't wait to see what the whole sweater is going to look like once it all comes together. I'll post pictures later this afternoon....that is, if I can stop knitting for long enough to get my camera out...

HOORAY!!

...and so it began

I feel like I need some sort of epic speech here, seeing as this is the inaugural post. But honestly, I'd rather be knitting. My afternoon class was canceled today, so I anticipate spending the rest of the day wrestling with my stash as I try to figure out how many projects I can complete before buying new yarn.

In other news, last night was the first snow of this strange northeast winter. Hooray!! note to the weather: next time, make it snow more than an inch please.
