800-st Scarf Pictures!

Close-up of the stripeyness:

All bundled up:

Close up of fringe:

And ZOOOOOM out:

Hooray!!! It turned out wonderfully! I absolutely love it! and I'm sooooo glad it's off my poor needles. I forgot to take a picture of those, but I will post one soon...they are anything but straight needles anymore.

So, the scarf turned out to be somewhere between ten and eleven feet long, which is awesome! and the yarn is stretchy and fun. It's a little too warm now to be wearing any kind of scarf, but it'll be perfect for autumn.

Breakin' out the needle and thread

I finished the bag!!! Well, ok, that's not entirely true. I finished the knitting part of the bag! ...and now I have to sew the lining....(cue evil music)

Before I starting to sew, I decided to stretch out the bag, so I filled it with all sorts of textbooks and notebooks (that I no longer need Woohoo!) and let it hang from my closet door for a day or so.

After it was all stretched out, I attached the buttons with my mad sewing skills, and here it is:

notice the adjustable strap...it's a feature I wish I'd put on my version of the bag, but alas, I'll just have to survive with tying knots in that strap to adjust the length.

Also, I sewed some buttons on my bag. Not too shabby, eh?

Three more stripes to go on the 800-st scarf! I will be sooo happy that that one is off the needles!

Knitting v. Everything Part II

It's less then three weeks before graduation and things are piling up. Papers, projects and presentations galore as well as trying to find an apartment/a car/a job, etc... Let's just say that life is a little hectic right now.

hectic, but still full of all things knitted. Mother's day and my mom's birthday are fast approaching, so I whipped something up for her. This bag may look somewhat similar to the fiery orange one I made back in February -- and that's because it is the same. At least it's the same so far.

I'm going to be making some changes to the strap configuration...making it adjustable rather than a fixed length. Actually, 'fixed length' isn't really true, because it lengthens after a period of time of carrying around heavy things. Anyway, the point is, that my mom's bag will have an adjustable strap. I still have to go buy the little parts to finish that bit up, but other than that, the present it complete.

The second birthday that is coming up is my other sister. She's turning 16 on the day I graduate, so I guess a birthday present is in order, eh? Anyway, here's what I'm making:

Can't really tell what it is yet, right? Well, it's gonna be a pillow. Yeah. A bit strange I know, but it actually looks and feels really cool. It's the loopy pattern from S&B Nation. I know the pictures are a little blurry and dark, but as soon as it's done, it'll be easier to photograph.

...stay tuned.
