The Mystery Unveiled
Voila! The mystery item was a pair of slippers!
Fuzzy Feet to be precise. I actually knit them last summer, but having to pay for laundry, I was not inclined to felt them until I moved into this new apartment with my own washing machine.
They were a long overdue present for Kaydo, and word on the street is that she likes them very much. The puff paint on the bottom of the slippers is for traction, and in case you can't read it, it says: "Kaydo's slipper, property of Kaydo, do not touch except for Kaydo." This being a reference to the delightful classic film Kronk's New Groove.
Everyone needs a pair of bright pink slippers, right!?!

An Everything Update
Asherton Scarf:
This first picture is the most accurate color of all the photos I have of this project.
It has doubled in size since you last saw it. Now I think it is about 5 feet long, which would make it about half done. The pattern is still interesting and gets easier the more I knit it.
Here's a pre-blocking pattern close-up. It should widen and flatten a lot during blocking, but I think I'm going to wait to block until it's all done.
The potholder that can't really hold pots:
This big yarn was left over from one of the few hats that were made by the carpenter, and the scraps weren't really enough to make much other than a pot holder. Unfortunately, most fingers poke through the knitting onto the hot item being carried, but it has been useful for keeping hot things off of table surfaces.
It was knit diagonally and took about 20 minutes to make. Hooray huge yarn!
Candy Thuja Socks: Finished!
These socks were finished and given to my 16-year old sister for her birthday in May. I think the socks turned out great. The yarn was a little funky and pool-y for my liking, but the final product was really cool.
The short-row heels and toes worked out wonderfully and I find them to be much more comfortable on the feet than the other heel and toe methods I have used.
...And I have started making (cue dramatic music) an AFGHAN! Yikes! The pattern that I'm using is called the Boys Afghan. The plan is to have it be a surprise for my parent's 25th anniversary this summer. Yeah, yeah, I know that afghans aren't really very good summer gifts, but I figure that they'll get over it.
Here are some preliminary pieces...

So we'll see how that one goes...
Also, did I mention how many times I went to the yarn store last semester? ZERO. None. Not once did I go to the yarn store last semester, keeping my promise to knit from my stash in an effort to slim it down.
Here is how it looks now:
Yeah, it's on my plant stand and my computer is there because I don't have a desk yet. But you may notice that there is much less yarn there than there was 5 months ago. Hooray!
And the MYSTERY project:
I can't reveal what this blurry too-close photo is supposed to be because the recipient of this item is one of my dedicated blog readers... but the mystery will be solved soon!

Denver!
I have moved across the country and now am pretty much settled in Denver. Still looking for a job...but knitting in the meantime.
